Amtrak needs to either run real train to ChicagoDefine "real train". Should we upgrade the Keystone Corridor to overhead wires and Class 8 track, rebuild the former PRR west of there to the same standard, and run Acelas into Chicago's Randolph Street Station after rebuilding the power cars to run on 1.5kV DC in addition to AC electrification? Think we could get them up to an eight-hour running speed if we skipped all stations between Harrisburg and Chicago . . . ? (We're definitely skipping Paoli, I hope you realize.) |
