I believe that at least a shell was built, abandoned, then quite likely filled-in and left to lore. That was the history and fate of the mystery tunnel segment in 108th St between 71st & Jewel Avenues. Why it was built in the first place is unknown, and the only known record of it was a barely-legible 1942 inspection report that tantalized far more than it satisfied. |
