They can use PATH's turnstiles which can take all three kinds of cards (although you only need two in NYCT). Less chances for failed swipes. But they have to speed up the smart card recognition. Having to stop half a second is irritating. You need walk through speed like Tokyo.Or like in Paris, they can mandate to carry the card used for entry until exit and have card checking agents. Then, most people would stop buying swipes. |
