No, your eyes are not fooling you, nor is it the wide angle. The body is longer, and the "porches" in the back and front of the locomotive (extended platforms) are eliminated and much shorter, much as they are on most diesels.

What I think is ridiculous are:

1). The digital bell!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR!!!

2). All the LED lights along the walk and body!! I guess they want everyone to see and marvel at this locomotive in the night!!

3). The new MTA scheme on it!!! Goodness that scheme is just NOT made for an NYCT work motor!!! Bring back the yellow and black!!!
