No I was not on this trip. It seems to have been organized by actual railroad people, both working and retired. There were only 40 and they paid $100 apiece. The Snowflake Charter a month ago had 260 plus at $42. Advance warning....the 20th Century RR Club is planning a charter this coming October. Charter dates and where you can go is limited this year due to the track work on the Loop "L". The 20th Century charter is on a weekend when the Marathon is scheduled so there will be no track work that weekend. I have a private charter for MSI-Chicago and Tower 18 is scheduled to be closed so we will have to use the Red line subway to get from south to north. The crew on Sunday's derailment was the same as on the Snowflake, so when a CTA spokesperson said, "The crew is tops." she was correct. But at only 40 people I imagine it was only a two-car charter and the CTA added two more cars for a four car minimum. Present management doesn't like to run two car trains anymore, with one exception. They're afraid of getting stuck over a section gap.
