In the extremely vague fantasies for Illinois HSR, CUS is pretty much maxed out, whereas there is land nearby which could be used(former B&O GCS) and connected to the Rock for southern access and tunnelled via the lower level Wacker ROW to get out to the north. 3. and the flyover cancels the restoration possibilities for a south side LD station as once existed. NS freight could be rerouted to avoid the entire junction during most hours of the day. BTW, the total Rock and ATK trains today are very few compared to what ran through there in the 50s when most stopped at Englewood. |
