Upgrade the ROWs to accommodate the faster passenger trains (add more tracks,grade separate,straight out the curves or build a bypass if needed,better signal system,etc). This is ambitious in the sense it will connect more of America than HSR ever would.All the improvements you listed are essentially building a brand spanking new line, except you want it to follow an existing rail ROW. If something is running on it's own trackage, why should you shoot for 150-180mph when you can go for 220mph? |
