There was no "subtalk" or anything back then, anything that was news you had to figure out yourself. I remember when I "missed" the R30's (red), and was so happy to find them on the Rockaway line. I didn't know they were going either, and I went with some friends to the beach, and when we got off, I snapped this photo: Little did I know this would be the last time I would ever ride one. They too were such a big part of anyone that grew up on the Eastern Division. When the R16's went "missing", I just assumed they were out getting repainted like the R10's. I had no idea they were being cut up. |
