Don't forget the interior of the T/O (nee motorman) cab on the 38s.

First changes in eons: flat console instead of individual stands for throttle and brake handles. Indication and brake gauge on the LEFT side, new style throttle for Westinghouse equipped units, throttle cover (green!) (and flat head instead of mushroom) for GE equipped units, electrically operated windshield wipers replacing manual ones.

There's a pic at nycsubway.org that's labeled as an R32 cab, but the layout clearly is for an R38.
