Joe, it's time for you to shut the fuck up. Chris is far from a foamer and it's time you start showing a little bit of respect. He is 100% right that no Long Islander with full discretion is going to do a bus-train-bus combination. It's a very new way of thinking that most old timers and established LIers simply can not conceive of. THAT BEING SAID, Chris is wrong in many ways as well. For people who either live or work near an LIRR station, a 2 seat ride (bus-train or train-bus combo) is certainly reasonable. I live in Manorhaven and take the N23 to Port Washington and the LIRR to Great Neck, where I work across the street from the station. Takes a total of 30 minutes, where as driving can take 20 minutes (or 12 minutes if I'm really flying) because the bus is timed well with the train and I work near the train station. As of Monday, however, I'm going to be driving because NICE bus completely botched the schedule starting April 8th.

The point I'm trying to make is that suburbia in general needs to be re-tooled. We are all in agreement that a higher capacity mode of transportation is more efficient, meaning its time to start densifying around our RR instead of continuing to destroy open lands for suburbia hell sprawl. This goes for the entire nation, and certain areas have already realized that.
