They DID replace the door motors (and re-did the pockets with those slanted ones) somewhere in the 70s. And they got repainted in the silver and blue scheme. One glaring problem was the interior ceilings. The white enamel they used did not properly adhere to the original surface, and it would up peeling and flaking off. I remember seeing the same issue with #6387 at the Transit museum some years back - but it has since been rectified after the original blue interior was restored. The solution? PRIMER.
