That's 13 cars needed, plus several more needed for shop margin, and that'll be the case for 20 yearsExactly, 15 to 17 unique cars purchased at a premium price and to be maintained within a fleet which will inevitably become even more predominantly electric over their life. More than likely it'd be cheaper over the lifetime of the DMUs to simply embark on an aggressive electrification program and reap the benefits of maintaining one big fleet of EMUs with only minor variations. |
