The Atlantic branch is grade separated, the Lower Montauk isn't and there's freight.It's still possible to grade separate new tracks for passenger service while keeping existing at-grade tracks for freight and connect the former to the East River tunnels or ESA. Just make sure not to serve any of the communities in between who opposed all projects of the sixties and seventies.:p |
