I have no idea why the cab window could not have been made like the one on the R-68s since both cars are curved sided. As for the pantograph gates, the only reason that the 75 footers had to have springs was because the end excess on a 75 ft car presented clearance problems on curves and near switches. No such clearance problem exists with any of the IRT cars or with 60 ft BMT/IND cars so traditional style pantograph gates are no problem. |
