Certainly consideration must be given to the cost of removing the high platforms and installing low platformsExcept that presumes that platforms dating back to the 1920s or so which haven't been maintained in nearly sixty years are still going to be used. It's highly likely that if the line is (re-)built, anything resembling a platform will be removed and replaced with a modern structure, and at that point, it seems silly to put in a more expensive high floor platform, especially when there are plenty of low-floor light rail cars with level boarding on the market, and the line is unlikely to actually connect with the rest of NYCTA. |
