The total number of cars to be SMS'd sits with Car Equipment Engineering. From informal conversation/hear-say rumor, about twenty R32's will be scrapped due to structural and other mechanical conditions that are too costly to re-mediate in the current budget environment.Based on the need to meet service requirements with spare equipment, R32's designated as museum assets may be included in the SMS-Lite program to make service numbers. I guess NYCTM will have to wait to receive its museum cars some time after 2017. |
