Most of the tube trains are comparable to New York's in style and cleanliness. They still do not have AC, though. But the trains are punctual, and they have countdown clocks in every station. I saw no Safeways. The food scene is much improved. They have a lot of "foodie" stuff, much more varied and wholesome. Plus many ethnic restaurants so you can avoid "British" food easily.
