Elmhurst (especially the "alphabet city" [Aske, Benham, Case, Denman, etc.] between Elmhurst and Lamont/43rd Avenues) has become a little more affluent with the conversions of the historic apartment buildings into co-ops. Thanks to the Vantage group/Cooper Square realty working to "revitalize" the neighborhood. White collar workers in their late-20s to early-40s looking to get more bang for their buck are moving to Elmhurst. I'm pretty sure if the Elmhurst station were to reopen, we'd see a little less white collars waiting for the 7 at 90th Street or the M/R at Elmhurst Avenue. |
