I never liked the concept of the 75 ft car anyhow unless the system was specifically built for them which the NYCTS was not. I recall an article in an old issue of the ERA Headlights in which the then chairman of the B of T, Sidney Bingham indicated that the ideal size for a rapid transit car on the NYCTS was 60 ft long by 10 ft wide, the exception of course being the IRT which had insufficient clearances for those dimensions. |
