Not to go too far off topic, if the MTA was able to print money, the first branch to get 3d rail would be the Port Jefferson.
But back to the real world, I don't think you'll see so much as one foot of extended electrification anywhere on the LIRR, in our lifetimes anyway.

Over at Metro North, the suits quietly admit that it was an expensive mistake to run 3d rail from North White Plains to Brewster North (Southeast).

Over on the Hudson line where 3d rail ends around Croton-North, there's a set of bomb shoreliner coaches & Genesis locomotives maintaining 95+% on time reliability between Poughkeepsie & GCT while handeling quadruple ridership in the past 20yrs or so. Plus correct me if im wrong, every multiple unit car is considered an electric locomotive & thus subject to more rigorous FRA inspections than any shoreliner. Translation, more down time.

Not to mention the Hudson line dosen't have weather related (snow)
service disruptions.

Point being, 3d rail is an expensive & in most cases an unneccessary "improvement"
