That is not the case and the literature from both the MTA and MNRR reps at the Conn Commuter Rail Council during the design and build process for the M8s repeatedly stated that the M8 would not have a transformer core sized for 25hz power. Admittedly Kawasaki originally bid on the sub-130,000lb Silverliner V, and that's 25hz design, it would have been interesting to see the outcome of that design had the PA State Republicans not rigged the bid for Rotem, who quietly swept the more ambitious SEPTA requirements under the rug. |
