Somebody needs to explain to me why many lines in Japan, where fuel is much more expensive, de-electrified in the past twenty years and why only freight trains are electric hauled on some former JNR lines with passenger service run with DMUs.Is the cost of running DMUs in Japan so much cheaper than loco-hauled diesel service in the US? |
