The LION has thought of this.The (7) is tied to the Steinway Tunnel, but from there there are options. The LION would run the (R) via 60th Street to Main Street and the (7) on a new track following LIE and then branching out via Montauk and Rockaway to the Airport and the Rockaways. Rather very few stops, it is supposed to be an Airport service. PROBLEMS: 1) (R) [nor any B div train] has the capacity to serve the Flushing. 2) 60th Street tunnel will need to serve Astoria and Main Street, it may not have the capacity on Broadway (the LOCAL) for all of these trains.
