I disagree with the need to have the military act as a police force, but it was demanded by the party out of power as an act of blackmail. I don't see what the right is flailing about coming down, but I can see this not passing Constitutional muster. I'd rather not go into it on this side of the fence here, but the provisions of the new act are quite dangerous should anyone be declared an "enemy of the state" and I could see it being stretched completely out of line to define railfans with cameras as full-out terrorists in wrong hands. That's the only reason why I'm saying this over here.I understand Obama added a "signing statement" when he signed it into law earlier, but I haven't had a chance to read about it as yet. He seemed to think some of the provisions were too strong and unnecessary, that's about all I've read so far. But the new provisions are every bit as dangerous to the right as they are to the left and it seems that nobody cared as it was all coming down. Now it's law. |
