As unlikely as it is for that ROW to ever be used for any sort of rail purpose again, I think it should remain a ROW to at least keep some hope alive of a cross-borough light rail line that's occasionally flaunted. A High Line-style park in that area of Queens is simply not going to work as they're imagining. This isn't Manhattan. If the NIMBY's don't want a secure light rail line zipping past their homes, I doubt they'd approve of a public park where people can simply stroll past the backs of their houses. |
