Interestingly, the Rockaways was actually a candidate for full-fledged casino gambling 30 or so years ago, when Atlantic City was just beginning to take off. The idea was killed when some wag pointed out that hotels and casinos in the Rockaways would amount to a huge jobs program for those living there... |
