But the more usual practice would be to put the local on the upper level and the express on the lower (like 86th and Lex, for example). That way, when the express is not running, the stairs to the lower express platform can be closed. The way it is, late night passengers must descend to the lower level from the unused upper level. Is there a reason they couldn't ramp up the local tracks rather than the express? |
