Since most commuter rail around Tokyo are run like rapid transit elsewhere, you don't get that luxury unless you pay premium fares. Most lines around Tokyo have rush-only express trains with reserved seats and bar cart service. Even Tokyo Metro runs some for the through trains to Odakyu Railway.Here's one at Tokyo Metro's Kasumigaseki station: And Shinkansen's stoppers are really mid-to-long distance commuter trains during rush, not regional trains. Of course that has to do with long time Japanese customs where employers generally still pay full-time employees' commute expenses. |
