That wouldn't bode so well for the train's visibility near Midtown. The only other options would be to shuttle the train between 34th Street and 14th Street, missing Times Square entirely and forcing 2 and 3 trains to run local between Times Square and Chambers; or shuttle the train between Times Square and Grand Central. I suppose the train regularly on track 3 would need to be stored on the connection to the subway under Park Avenue South, but then again, are the gap fillers at Times Square set up to handle a train of Lo-Vs?

Shuttling between Times Square and 96th Street is the best bet. It hits Midtown and the Upper West Side while passing the Theater District, Columbus Circle, and Lincoln Center, and provides a nice express run along the original IRT subway that should keep rail buffs and "muggles" alike happy.
