First of all it's not the DC Armory, that's over by RFK. The building in Bob's photos is the former Washington Coliseum, among other things, one of its first events was a pro-American rally weeks before Pearl Harbor, and it is site of the first Beatle's concert in the US. The building has been badly abused in the intervening years, but today it's about the only large hall in DC adjacent to mass transit. With a renovation it could make an excellent concert facility, something with which it already has an impressive history. |
