Yesterday, an afternoon trip to the Palisades Mall in West Nyack for the Miss, one of my daughters and one of the Miss friends = me + camera for railfanning!!! And on this day, the CSX River Line did not disappoint one bit!!

Care to see??? I figured you would!! :-) Without further ado......

We start in the quiet town of Haverstraw, a few miles up Route 303 and the Route 9W from West Nyack and the Palisades Mall.......

Where off Route 9W is the old NYC Haverstraw passenger station, now a law office, where in the parking lot, an old caboose is on display

Closer on the caboose, as it seems Haverstraw is railroad-friendly!! :-)

The sign for the law office seems to show a respect for the rails

The old station building now law office (and doesn't that black SUV look familiar???)

Views of the station building, the travelers of the rails and commuters of years upon years ago all gone, yet the station still stands its place idly by the tracks

Looking northward and southward respectively next to the station building on the old platform, just waiting for a nice shiny passenger train bearing the NYC logos and heralds that sadly will NEVER come!! :-(

An old baggage cart, definitely a holdover from years of passenger train past, but sadly not been used in seemingly quite some time

From the other side of the crossing offers another nice view of the main line, the old station building and the baggage cart still in place at the station

Now you all know what MUST happen now!!! You know your friendly neighborhood #1 Conductor cannot let you all leave here without a train to show for it, right??? And in fine fashion, me and CSX comes thru for you, in the form of southbound CSX Q439-14, Selkirk Yard Albany NY to Hamlet NC, good ol' mixed bag 'o' manifest lead by CW44AH 567 and sister 593, thunderously passing thru this quiet little Rockland County town.......

IN YO' FACE, HOMIE!!!

Thundering past the station, hell bent on the crew change at CP 3 in North Bergen

See ya, Q439!!! North Bergen/CP 3 NEXT STOP!!!

As the quiet returns to Haverstraw......for now.....we get ready to bid the town a farewell, as I plan to move up the line and look around a little too!!

The sign over New Main Street by the tracks and station shows more respect for the railroad

And the baggage cart still sits idly by, wondering if it will ever haul another load for some gracious (or not so gracious) passengers for a nice shiny streamlined passenger train again!!

And for the last two shots, I want you all to see what is wrong with each sign!! These are the railroad crossing failure placards attached to the crossing gates on the west side and the east side of the tracks respectively. West first, than east, and you tell me what is wrong?? LOOK CAREFULLY!!

Thank you for viewing!! Hope you have enjoyed!! Sty tuned for my stop in West Haverstraw, up next!! :-)
