I've also heard that they hit some pretty serious water like they did down Nostrand, but you'd think that would have been figured out long before any shovels hit it.Exactly. Looking at a map, you'd expect serious water problems around the borough line and slightly less serious ones just west of Cross Bay Blvd. And with the population being sparser along Pitkin than along Nostrand (more dead people), I don't understand why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to build a subway there, let alone a massive 4-track one. |
