Those officers and the City get what they deserve and I hope this guy and anyone else with him win and win big!!! Those officers could not have been more wrong!!Again, the last several times I was at Broad Channel to take shots, and there was nothing in particular running the times I went, and stayed each time there at least 2 hours or so, and the NYPD never said a word to me (and so it is clear, I DO NOT carry my railroad I.D. on my person!!), and in fact one time they were there when I was shooting, I even stopped them and asked them about the photography thing, and all 5 officers confirmed to me that system photography is perfectly legal providing it is done in legal, public areas and not in restricted areas (aka trespassing). I shot away for a whole 2 1/2 hours there after and nothing happened at all. But they did go on to say, and I state I am not saying at all this guy or his companions did this, but the times they do speak to rail buffs and photographers, issues arise when the buffs or photographers begin getting belligerent with them, and combatant with them, and then they do what they have to do given that escalated situation. Much we know from the story, but do remember there are accounts of this we do not know about, and there are other sides of this story. Let us see where this goes, and what more comes out, and then make judgments. |
