Yet, we gays are the "threat" to society. I hope this tape convicts every one of these wretched, disgusting excuses for human beings.Often, it's STILL not safe for gays to walk the streets in our country (this happened in L.A.). See the hateful remarks by Roland Martin of CNN about doing violence to those who "get excited" over the Beckham Super Bowl underwear ad, for an example of how gay-bashing is encouraged and perpetuated. Waits for the inevitable "what did the victim do to provoke the attack" comments...even WSHH says it was "dead wrong"... |

I agree that this coordinated attack is likely not their first. however, a detective friend of mine says he wishes all thugs would tape their crimes with cell phones like this. It doesn't undo the damage, but he says DAs LOVE when the cops bring them cell-phone video. It's even better than surveillance video because it was made by the bad guys themselves.On another note, things like this are the reason why so many gays stay in the closet. |

WSB-TV (the local Atlanta CBS affiliate) has been covering it since the video hit WSHH, ABC had a segment on it during the national news last night, plus CNN and MSNBC picked it up. Since the beating occurred on Saturday, the police have located, identified, and interviewed the terrified victim, 20-year-old Brandon white, and spoken with his family.The FBI has joined the investigation because Georgia is one of just five states without a hate-crimes law. (The Georgia legislature had passed one, the governor signed it, Southern whites got it repealed, and the Legislature refused to refile.) The US attorney's office is looking at the possibility of federal civil-rights charges for the culprits, if and when they are arrested. There is, in addition to the video the suspects themselves made, of their own crime, surveillance video which is now in the hands of investigators. There has, according to published and broadcast reports, been a firestorm of public outrage in Atlanta over this senseless ambush attack. Although Crimestoppers has been receiving "calls all day long" according to WSB, no arrests have yet been made in this case. I have been all over the LGBT media about this in the past two days, and did an op-ed for GBM News that shows how people like Roland Martin making homophobic remarks encourages the kind of violence we saw in Atlanta, and how tolerance of homophobia allows such attacks to continue. I'm waiting for the inevitable "gay panic" defense when these filthy creatures are caught. Yup, one little gay man was so "threatening" to three big, muscular gangsters that they had to beat him with their hands, feet, and a car tire. Yup. Makes perfect sense. The sad thing is, there ARE juries that will buy that shit. |

I think it has been largely "blacked out".But this kind of behavior is what the violent hip-hop culture thrives on, and such videos are posted to that site regularly. The update is that supposedly all of the people in the video including the attackers are gay and the victim lied about not knowing them and also lied about being attacked because he was gay. Supposedly they attacked him to steal his cell phone which containing a video of one or more of them engaged in a sex act with the victim. |

I heard and reported that story yesterday at GBM News. However, today, Brandon White's attorney says his client did not know his attackers at all, and Greg Smith, one of the leaders of Atlanta's LGBT groups, said the gay-on-gay story was "all rumors", and no such evidence of a "down-low" affair between White and any of the three men in custody has been suggested by police or the Fulton County DA.Additionally, Devin Ward of Change Atlanta, who originally said White was lying in his press conference, has backed off that assertion. He now says only that "we merely commented on information brought to us by CBS", referring to quotes from Gary Nichols of the sane group, who said White had "duped" Atlanta's LGBT community. This case just keeps getting messier and messier, and I doubt we'll know the real truth at least until the trial. |
