Science, feh. Modern science goes back how far, a few centuries? Earth has been around a lot longer than that. There have been extremes in temperatures for centuries. Something caused the Ice Age and something ended it.

I always like hearing about how average temperatures have risen and that this is unprecedented. Accurate temperature records in THIS country have only been kept since about 1880 - I doubt any accurate records exist in large parts of the world.

Tell me - how do YOU know there wasn't climate change 1,000 years ago? 2,000? 3,000? And don't quote science to me - science is a constantly evolving practice, with new things being discovered all the time.

So lets be clear - I am not saying that the planet is not undergoing climate change. Science proves that it is. I am saying that there is no reliable evidence that it is man-made.

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;…And feel free to burn as much of the plant life as you wish and return it to the air as carbon dioxide.

Well, maybe he only implied the last sentence. :)

1. Just because there's a natural explanation for something doesn't mean there isn't also an artificial explanation. e.g.: just because a volcano can destroy a city doesn't mean that a nuclear bomb also can't. So just because the climate can change due to natural effects doesn't mean that there also can't be man-made climate change.

2. Unlike you, science is capable of measuring past events. In addition to human records from pre-scientific times, there are tree rings, ice cores, fossils and other rocks.

3. There is, in fact, reliable evidence that it is man made.

I am not saying that the planet is not undergoing climate change. Science proves that it is. I am saying that there is no reliable evidence that it is man-made.

What you are really saying is that there is no reliable evidence that all climate change is man-made. And that latter statement is well-supported by science.

Just because mankind has the ability to affect the earth's climate doesn't mean climate can't change for reasons not related to mankind as well.

I agree! I hate the heat. But I'm also no big fan of the cold. But from my observations, it seems that people only refer to the extreme cold or the extreme heat. Nobody ever talks about COMFORTABLE temoperatures, when it's 55-60 degrees, when all you might need is a light jacket or sweatshirt, and you don't sweat and you don't freeze. And it's much easier to breathe, and the air is usually crisp and refreshing. But to each his own, I guess...

" ...mankind has the ability to affect the earth's climate..."

Indeed. Mankind has been trying to effect climate change since the industrial revolution. Go back 75-150 years & check out how we were poisoning the atmosphere. There were thousands of steam locomotives worldwide, belching out all that coal smoke. Industrial factories had huge smokestacks putting out huge plumes of pollution, espicially around steel mills. Every municipality burned their garbage. Steamships roamed the seas with huge black exhaust trails.
Yet with all that, the polar ice caps were intact w/o noticable shrinkage. Winters were cold & snowy. Summers were hot & steamy...etc
The point to all this is that with all this mankind contributions to poisoning the atmosphere, global warming didn't exist in the then here & now sense. Now the ice caps are shrinking. Global warming is happening, but how much we have to do with it to me is still debatable. Were cleaning up our act (somewhat). All I described before dosen't happen anymore. In addition no more Freon. What a big plus! Heres the bottom line, mankind or not, The natural order of things cannot be discounted. Like "professor" George Carlin said...the earth has been around 4+billion years & has a way of taking care of itself

OK, that's hilarious— "How do YOU know there wasn't climate change thousands of years ago? But don't mention any facts because those could, theoretically, be wrong!"

Of course, everybody knows climate change isn't real because there is no "climate" in the first place— the entire world is an artificial environment maintained at a set temperature. How can you say it isn't? But don't quote any observations to me or ask me to look out the window to make observations of my own; that's a form of science and science is a constantly evolving practice with new things being discovered all the time.
