Posted by JayZeeBMT on Fri Sep 14 21:04:06 2012 Well, I won't be posting on the Chats nearly as much as I used to. As some of you have already seen, I'm now under contract with a new, national TV network that will launch next month and reach 40 million homes via Time Warner, Comcast, Dish TV, satellite, VOD, and online. I'll be doing business and general news for Urban Broadcasting Company, a multicultural channel with something for everyone. All my yeears of struggle and sacrifice have finally met with success.Unfortunately, in my agreement with the network, is the "Social Media and Public Image Clause" which forbids me from making any public endorsement of a political party or candidate, and many of my posts here certainly meet that criteria. With the legalities of my involvement in the network shortly to take effect, it is with a heavy heart that I must refrain from making such posts here in the future. It has always been an interesting experience discussing different topics here on the Chats, sometimes infuriating, but never dull. It's been a real privilege to have joined all of you in our ongoing debates, and I will look in on the Chats from time to time. Of course, I will post the times and dates of my programming, so you can turn on your TV and watch (and say "I used to argue with that guy!")...LOL! Thanks again to one and all! |

Multicultural as in everything but white people or will there be programs that focus on white culture?I know less than anyone about broadcasting, but I have my doubts that blacks want to watch Asian shows or that Asians want to watch Hispanic shows, etc. I would recommend picking a culture and sticking with it. |

When you're talent, those "morals clauses" are quite tight. Once on the air, anything you say, do or think reflects directly on the channel itself and so the clamps are applied to your balls instead of directly to the forehead. But they usually make it worth your while. Not Jay Leno money, but certainly not public access money neither. :)But yeah, once you sign with a network, even the small ones, your balls are no longer yours. |

In GENUINE journalism, it is absolutely not allowed. Journalism is supposed to be as dry as Joe Friday on Dragnet. "Pundits" aren't journalists, they're "opinion mongers" and the nomenclature is designed to completely separate such from "news" ... the "instant news" channels follow no such guidelines which is why I have no respect for them whatsoever ... same goes for "blogs" and "twitter" ...Real journalism has standards, "just the facts" ... back when I was in the biz, if I had an opinion on anything, that was my final show. ANd one of the reasons why I gas off here the way I do is that I'm now a civilian and have oodles of years of that restraint yet to compensate for. :) |
