"Obvious" Christian president finally attends church

I am sure the election has nothing to do with this. He's probably SO Christian he only needs to go to church every 4 years.

He actually goes quite often, more so than the last bunch did. Remember he has young kids. He has been attending the Episcopal church across the street from the White House as it's easily secured, and the family can go together without making it a media event.

Just because Fux or some RW blogger doesn't report a story doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Obama wishes Muslims happy Eid

President Barack Obama wished Muslims well for the feast of Eid al-Fitr marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In the United States, Saturday was considered the 30th and final day of the dawn-to-dusk month of fasting this year, and Sunday will mark the start of the feast.

"Michelle and I extend our warmest wishes to Muslim communities in the United States and around the world as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr," Obama said in a statement released by the White House.

"For Muslims, Ramadan has been a time of fasting, prayer and spiritual renewal. These past four weeks have also been a time to serve the less fortunate — a reminder of the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other."

Wishing Muslims across the United States and around the world "Eid mubarak" (happy holiday), Obama said the celebrations in America speak to "the truth that communities of faith — including Muslim Americans — enrich our national life, strengthen our democracy and uphold our freedoms, including the freedom of religion."

"That is why we stand with people of all faiths, in the United States and around the world, in protecting and advancing this universal human right," he added.

He's not a "secret Muslim".

Indonesia is where Obama grew up and they have certain laws. They require all children to attend religion classes. Parents fill out a form telling the school what religion their child is so the school knows which classes the child needs to attend. Even Catholic schools are required to offer classes for the Muslim students. It's against the law to proselytize.

In the case of Obama, he was registered as a Muslim. That's what his father enrolled him as. So for a time in his life, he was a considered a Muslim.

I believe that if Obama had been raised in the States, he would not have attended any kind of religion classes.

The only conclusion to draw here is that should (Gods forbid!) Willard gets elected, he's going to require a security detail to go to church (there's no Mormon church/temple across the street from the White House) whereas the President just needs a security agent or two to accompany them as his family walks across the street.

So Romney can go to the Mormon Temple in Kensington. It would take a regular citizen less than 30 minutes to drive there from the White House on a Sunday morning, I'm sure it would take Romney's motorcade even less. Obama has prayed at several churches across Washington, DC. If you think the president just needs a security agent or two to accompany them as his family walks across the street", I have a bridge to sell you...

No President attends church on a regular basis. It's more often than not impossible. Reagan went maybe twice (and made it a media event every time) in *8* years. I don't recall Bush going ever, and bush....well....he was rarely in Washington to begin with.

I don't think that anyone should be measured by church attendance. How one lives OUTSIDE of that hour and treats others is a better measure of a human.

You'd be wrong again:

As recently as the 1990s, it was possible for a President to maintain a regular, low-key presence in a local congregation with minimal inconvenience to church members and no political downside. During his eight years in office, Bill Clinton and his family were fixtures at Foundry Methodist Church on 16th Street, a church that his 1996 opponent Bob Dole once attended frequently as well. Neither Ronald Reagan or George H.W. Bush were affiliated with a local church as President. However Jimmy Carter not only attended but taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of DC throughout his presidency. …

From http://www.patheos.com/blogs/jesuscreed/2011/12/18/presidents-and-church-attendance/

I can't find any other data since most Google searches just come up with how Obama "never" goes to church...
