They should be allowed to transfer at the very least in proportion to their percentage of the student population.LAUSD has a similar policy regarding transferring and race and I was always worried that my kids would be denied a transfer out of LAUSD (we have to request one every year) because of their race. In fact they were denied last year and we had to fight it, although they never mentioned if race played a part. |

When I was in Queens I was in Woodside visiting someone and there's an elementary school on 51st Avenue and I swear every single kid I was was Asian. I was thinking to myself, why haven't black and Latinos complained about this?You look at a story like this and see why some whites think the odds are being stacked against us. |

We're going to have a similar problem at our local high school. Carson High is splitting into three schools that may end up segregating Asians. FTR there are whites at Carson High, but not in significant numbers.The critics fear that the new configuration will take a toll on the school's celebrated diversity because one of the two splinter schools - the Academy of Medical Arts at Carson High - could potentially siphon a disproportionate number of the school's highest achievers, many of whom are Filipino. |

It's the high schools that the left like to destroy.In NYC they won't let all kids in Forest Hills go to Forest Hills HS. When angry parents confronted politicians, they were once told that the Jewish kids should be able to get into Stuyvesant or Science and not have to worry about going to Jamaica HS. |

That's the entrenched legacy of life in the south.There is a solution....raise taxes and put the money into improving that school system. This sort of thing is seen all over the south....middle class and up families send their kids to private schools to avoid contact with minorities, then starve the public school system by demanding taxes be kept low. These schools are left to fail, underfunded and struggling. Most of the students families are poor, and the parents are struggling to get by, with little time to put into monitoring a school system they cannot control, as they are typically renters that do not directly pay property taxes. |
