Favorite Chicken

Posted by SLRT on Thu Jul 26 14:48:20 2012

fiogf49gjkf0d
Who and where (if applicable) is your favorite fried chicken joint?

My favorite is Pollo Comparo, a Guatemalan chain, in North Bay Shore. They do quite a business, and I'm often the only non-Latino in there. Interesting is that all the help speaks to customers in Spanish or English, depending (I assume) on your looks.

My kids are fond of their freshly-made fried plantain chips, but you have to eat them fresh, they quickly become hard as rocks.

If I'm not in the neighborhood, I'll take Popeye's over other chains.

Popeye's is the best of the chains. KFC is the absolute worst.

KFC doesn't really fry their chicken; they pressure-cook it.

If I'm really craving the stuff, I just grab the fried stuff next to the rotisserie chicken in the supermarket. I usually pile on the hot sauce anyway . . . (which reminds me of my other favorite, the half-chicken/fried rice special at the Chinese take-out restaurant).

Have you ever had "Broasted® Chicken?" I think it's a pressure-cooked chicken. It's "different." It's a patented process, and sometimes I like it.

Anyone have Pudgie's? Or Flavor Crisp? The latter is a licensed batter, they put it on deep-fried vegetables and potato wedges, as well as chicken.
