They must be getting things mixed up with the USSR's constitution again.

Universal military service is law. Military service in the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army is an honorable duty of the citizens of the USSR.

1936 constitution, Article 132

Military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the USSR is an honorable duty of Soviet citizens.

1977 constitution, Article 63
Or maybe it's the constitution of Red China, what with so many people in Washington DC so close to those bourgeois dictators, I mean working class heroes:

It is the sacred obligation of every citizen of the People's Republic of China to defend the motherland and resist aggression. It is the honorable duty of citizens of the People's Republic of China to perform military service and join the militia in accordance with the law.

First of all, any type of "forced" healthcare by the Government (which I'm against) should be for catastrophic hospitalization, and NOT for routine doctor's visits. I can see insurance for hospitalization but people should be able to pay for routine doctor's visits. What ever happened to individual responsibility?

As far as the ADA and smoking regulations, water always seeks it's level. In other words there will always be businesses that will cover what others don't, just like price wars.

This is America, not Europe.

You said that conscription was called for in the constitution. I say it is not specifically mentioned.

ahhh....your old SDS self comes out.

The power to involuntarily draft Americans into military service is found in Congress's powers under Section 8, 12-16

12: To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

13: To provide and maintain a Navy;

14: To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

15: To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

16: To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

According to your logic, the US Air Force is unconstitutional because that text does not mention it.

What part of "to raise' and "calling forth' do you not understand/

If they meant to only raise and call forth volunteers, the Constitution would have said so.

The SCOTUS has repeated this time and time again in different eras.

The exercise of certain rights, like that of a fair jury trial by one's peers, can only become reality through certain coercive and enforced duties like being forced to serve on a jury.

Just like a professional or semi-professional juror force would not work, in times of incredible peril to our liberty and independence, a limited military force composed solely of professionals and other volunteers would also not work.

Military service requires a much greater commitment than jury service. Jury service is of usually short duration and rarely places one in peril of life or limb.

As I've said before, if a government is unable to convince enough of its own citizens of its righteousness that they would rather sit idly and allow its destruction, then such government ought to be destroyed.

I would agree but the laws of our land don't have an auto-destruction clause of that sort.

They are instead set up to preserve the nation at all costs, including the possibility of involuntary conscription.

This, after all, is the country that accepts as one of its founding principles that governments which become destructive to certain ends ought to be altered or abolished, even through violent means.

The laws and Constitution of the US provide for the suppression of such Rebellions and Insurrections, including the suspension of venerable civil liberties like the Grand Writ of Habeas Corpus.

Your characterization is correctly found in the personal philosophies of some of our Founders.

Our written laws, customs and precedents OTOH point to the very opposite.
