But maybe a standoff where the military doesn't dare overturn Morsi, but Morsi doesn't dare impose fundamentalist rules on the people, could be the best for Egypt at the moment. |

I suppose it's better to make it appear that the majority of people in Egypt are ready to go full Hamas then.Fact is most folks over there aren't very religious, compared to some of the Shia countries. All they want is an economy and a better life than they had with their klepto in charge. Doesn't look like the outcome is what they wanted here either. The winner claims that he's not going to go nuts and impose it, and has already been made pretty toothless as a result of the military's actions. So for now, expect a lot of gassing off and not much else. I'd be more concerned about north given that West bank is fed up with Abbas getting nowhere over the concessions of the last several years. Word I hear is that a third intifada isn't far away. I'd worry about that instead. |
