Well, it is the obvious conclusion of stand your ground and your home is your castle. After all, how do you know that the people breaking into your house really are police? They could just be claiming that. :(

I can see that if it's gonna be "stand your ground" then it's gonna be SYG against all comers. I've seen cops trespass onto private property and forget that it was private.

In my own recent experience, that cop who hassled me over photography in Philly was plainclothes. Until he showed a badge, I thought he might be some thug wanting to steal my camera.

Fred

In places you don't have to pull over at night to an unmarked cruiser either as there's so many phonies out there.

It's also called the Castle Doctrine, not stand your ground, which is the law in the majority of the country, except the ones that have snipers in the projects, like Illinois for example. Please don't make this into another 'pre-existing condition' thread.

Next excuse will be to use the "castle doctrine" as a pretext for air raids.

I see the law as unconstitutional shifting of the burden of proof to the defendant.

Good. Cops may think twice before doing what they did to Jose Guerena before an innocent man dies.

Of course, nothing in this law prevents a man shooting at cops doing their jobs properly from facing justice.
