Ten official US investigations and 3 official Israeli Inquiries have all concluded the attack was a tragic mistake. Israel officially apologized, offered aid as soon as they realized what happened, and paid about 13 million as reparations to the U.S. and the families.But I suspect you don't care about that.

All I am doing is correcting the record. The attack was a mistake by the IAF which thought the boat was Egyptian. Back then, the US and Israel were not allies and there was no exchange of intelligence. The fog of war, itchy trigger fingers and inferior French radar systems were all to blame. |
