Obama: A menace to diplomacy

Does this look like Polish to you?

Can you imagine if Bush had said this?

Obama DID make a bad error here. But historically speaking, the Nazi death camp Auschwitz, was built by the Nazis over the site of the Polish village of Osweicim. It's not a "Polish" death camp--but it was in Poland. I'm actually surprised the WH Protocol Office didn't pick this one up.

Considering how anti-Semitic Poland has always been* it might as well be called that.

No doubt, but there were no gas chambers before or after German occupation and they were not run by the Poles.

Did he not immediately realize the glaring mistake and correct it on the fly? Is he so dumb that he can't ad-lib over a glaring historical inaccuracy? If he gave a speech at Pearl Harbor which contained the term "When the Germans bombed", would he just read it without flinching?

I'll call him truly incompetent when he commits an Iraq size blunder or allows 2 skyscrapers to fall in NY like his predecessor did. Until then, this is a dumb speaking blunder and you guys are sweating the small stuff.

Yeah, maybe I might have given a shit about either of those stories if they phone wasn't ringing all day from all the computer security magazines asking for my analysis of that stupid "Flame" worm making the rounds. Published my own byline on Infosecisland.com and will be all over the big computer news sites tomorrow. Seems the media got this story incredibly wrong, so had to find and writeup a crapload of proff.

It's nice working with journos that actually WANT to get a story straight unlike this shit ... :)

Hmmm. When President Reagan outraged millions of Jews all over the world when he visited the German military cemetery at Bitburg on the 40th anniversary of V-E Day, that was an even bigger misstep than the one you're ascribing to Obama. My point is, politicians in both parties make errors like this from time to time, but this in no way means Obama is "incompetent", or "must be removed".

Hey, it happens the other way too. I've seen a scientist who never spoke a word of Polish in his life referred to as a Polish scientist because he grew up in what is now Poland.

There actually is a sort of political correctness that refers to everything in what is now Poland as Polish. This is the kind of idiocy it leads to.

A lot of liberals believe that Bush let those planes hit their targets in order to justify an invasion of Iraq. I would say that most truthers vote against Republicans.

Nothing wrong with wanting to know the truth. WTC was attacked in 1993 and we knew they weren't done. We did nothing to stop 9/11 from happening. Bush was happy because he got what he wanted in the end.
