Wrong Easy.The SAT (particularly the old SAT) is actually a better IQ test than most IQ tests are, because it measures only crystallized-g, as opposed to fluid-g. Tests of fluid-g, which is meant to measure the ability to solve novel problems, are subject to loss of accuracy due to training with solving abstract thinking problems. The SAT on the other hand, which measures ability after intense preparation (all of schooling) is much more fair measure (broadly speaking, that is; this is subject to lots of individual variation). |

Today's SAT is not as g-loaded as it was in the past. 2. That is actually false. The thing to remember that as a content-based test, the SAT will require some learning and effort on the part of the student. What you're seeing is just a student exercising their talent, not beating the test. The SAT is, and always has been, an IQ test. |

The thing is that people see numbers like 110 or 115 and, knowing that that's above average, assume that the person is intelligent. But the reality of the situation is that a person with an IQ of 100 really isn't very smart. You don't start seeing what is reasonable intelligence until IQ 120 or so. Hence Dubya was close to the bottom of the barrel for having a moderately intelligent. Even then, considering the demands of the presidency in this day and age, Bush's IQ was far too low for the task. |
