Recently drove south...the number of churches that resemble airplane hangars is remarkable down there....these people work for substandard wages, can't afford to fund their government and their schools, yet they have these lavish places of worship that stand directly against their own Protestant ethics of graven images, austerity in living, etc etc. Somehow I can't imagine God wanting this. |

In North Carolina and the rest of the South, segregation was supreme in the lives of Southerns. Jim Crow lived everywhere and the KKK was right there......and some of these pastors were right there as well. |
