There's this too...

WJBK reports that Chevilott, who wants his job back, was also fired for insubordination and unauthorized access to the department's road yard.

But even so, there still has to be more to this. Maybe they were laying in the weeds for this guy. Maybe he got drunk and pawed the wrong guy's wife at the Christmas party back in 98 or something.

your pal,
Fred

Or maybe he DID bring the gun to work and the whole story about finding it was made up.

That's plausible too. I like the pawed wife angle but I'll live with him being some douche bringing a gun to work.

Fred

Eh, this is a biggie
said the crew was waiting for Detroit police to swing by and pick up the gun, but they never showed.

So the veteran employee of the Department of Public Services did what he thought was the right thing: Finished the job and then turned the gun into police later the same evening.

Police told Chevilott he did the right thing by getting the gun off the streets, he said. A check revealed that it had been stolen from a nearby suburb in 2005.

danged if you do, danged if you don't. Let's see if the union is worth it's salt on this one.
