Still, this is a disaster for Obama (of his own making) and a boon for Romney:http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2012/05/13/same-sex-marriage-supporters-opponents-gear-up-for-november-ballot/ Note that Romney re-affirmed his commitment to traditional marriage. We shall now see what effect (if any) it has in the polls. |

He's going to get a lot of flack from Blacks. They are way less accepting of gays, and many are very religious. While it won't make them vote for Romney, it does make them much less excited about heading the polls like they did in 2008. |

But they will still mostly vote for him. However, this guarantees that the black vote, while still overwhelmingly for Obama, will be smaller in size than it was in 2008. 95% of a smaller pie is.....smaller. |

At the end of the day, gay marriage is unlikely to sway many voters who are predisposed to one candidate or the other to switch IMO. This might be a big deal right now, but come November, jobs and the economy will likely be the deciding factors in who most of the voters want in office. |

That was my point. It's not like Blacks will not vote on racial lines, just as they did in 2008. It's just that there will be a lot less of them, as motivation for them is not at all what it was in 2008. |

I was listening to kjlh in LA after Obama came out and was surprised by how disappointed nearly all of the callers were. I didn't listen that long, but from several callers (5 or 6) and the radio dj's, only one person said that they agreed with Obama (the female DJ). Everyone sounded deflated, although everyone said that they would still vote for Obama.OTOH, the semi-conservative talk show that I listen to on KFI makes fun of Romney for not supporting gay marriage, which they see as a no-brainer, equal rights issue. |
