Posted by JayZeeBMT on Tue May 1 23:23:40 2012 Openly gay Mitt Romney advisor Richard Grennell, who was brought in to guide the Republican presidential candidate's foreign-policy message, resigned under pressure from anti-gay GOP conservatives today. Romney accepted Grennell's resignation without protest, nor did the candidate address the "uproar" in the National Review and Daily Caller over Grennell's appointment.The GOP continues, even in the face of its leading Presidential candidate, to loudly and clearly express its attitudes towards gays. How disgusted GOProud and the Log Cabin Republicans must be tonight! Perhaps their members will wake up and see that although they share the ideas of the right, the right DOES NOT WANT OR ACCEPT THEM. Sad. Just sad, all the way around. |

Yes, he was a bit of a jerk, but by all accounts, he was forced out because he was gay. His sexual orientation was the cause of the furor in conservative circles when Romney hired him. |

The link is to the Washington Post, and, no, Grennell wasn't playing the "gay card". He was forced out specifically because he was gay. The agitation from the conservatives for his removal from the Romney campaign, started the day he was hired. |
