Uh, there was a bipartisan deficit reduction act passed last year that set hard spending limits for the next few years. This has the force of law and was signed by the President. It is more binding than a mere budget resolution, which is not so signed. |

I saw some bipartisanship in the State capitol today: a Democratic legilater held the elevator door for a Republican (thank you nametags)...At least at the state level our reps aren't nimrods... yet. |

How much for military? How much for foreign aid? And so forth. The democrats won't propose a budget because they refuse to be held accountable. The only thing that the democrats seem to be interested in is getting the first moron re-elected.By the way, did you know that obama proposed a budget and it was voted down 97 - 0 in the senate and in the house it didn't get a single vote including nancy pelosi's vote. The Paul Ryan budget has been the only serious budget proposal this year. Where are the democrats? |

They only get to approve them. Read the Constitution (amazing how many claim to be "strict constructionists" yet don't know what's in the document itself) fer chrissakes. It's in there. The House of Representatives MUST initiate budgets. The President sent his proposal forward. It was ignored. The House passed their thing on party lines. It rightfully died in the Senate, as it is intended to and would do great *harm* to the nation. |

I posted a link as to the Senate's budgetary obligations. Either you did not read it or you did not retain it. Either way, the disconnect is at your end.As for the president's idiotic budget proposal, not even Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi would support it. So much for obie's economic abilities. As for the house, they put forth a budget proposal that had bipartisan support. Harry Reid kept the senate from even considering it. Once again, either you are deliberately lying or you have no idea about what you are speaking. |

The Ryan "budget" had NO bipartisan support. Stop with the fiction....Nor should it. It is the worst possible idea for the country at this or any time. Leader Reid did the American people a favor by killing it. Nobody expects a Presidential budget to be accepted. Hasn't happened in my lifetime. The House *always8 makes changes, for better or worse. In this case, it was *much* worse, and died thankfully in the Senate. It would have been vetoed anyway, the President told them as much. |

Posted by bingbong on Thu May 3 00:15:15 2012, in response to Re: Three Years and Still No Budget Proposal, posted by Train Dude on Tue May 1 23:47:20 2012. The Ryan "budget" would be the worst thing for the nation, and by extension, the global economy. It's combination of economic disasters would serve to punish the poor (not that they did anything to begin with to deserve such), the elderly, who would then be in a position to seek support from family members, which drains resources from younger families, at a time in their lives where they are likely trying to pay for their own children's college. Add to that the fact that the Ryan"budget" eviscerated higher education funding and we'll have a whole generation that's unprepared and not capable of performing in the jobs of the future. It also eliminates childcare funding, so working poor families will be faced with the choice of having 2 incomes and nearly enough, or 1 insufficient income to support themselves with. I could go on about Title X and what its elimination will cause....more unwanted births, especially to those on the economic margins, who more than likely become future criminals. It's a good thing for everyone it went nowhere. Even republibcans don't support it once they understand what's in it..... Concentrated evil. |

I'm really not interested in you opinion of the Ryan budget proposal. My only mention of it was to indicate that it's the only budget proposal to come out of congress. The senate would not be allowed to vote on it and yet the democratically controlled senate has not proposed a budget in 3 years. Stop trying your usual tactic of trying to switch the argument to one you can answer. Where is the budget proposal from the senate. It's 3 years late. |

Fact is, that damn pipeline isn't going to provide any benefit to us, all that oil's going to pumped onto ships and sent to China. If the case was otherwise, they'd refine near the border and ship via rail, which is how gasoline gets around our section of continent. |

The budget is not about raising revenue. How stupid can one cow get? Try Googling "US Budget Process" Then eat a 1/2 dozen jelly doughnuts and call me in the morning. |
